July 29 – The Croatian Football Association (HNS) and the Chinese National Football Academy have signed a cooperation agreement.
The agreement covers the exchange of knowledge, training methods, and development of young players, but also new technologies in football and the construction of football infrastructure. The Croatians have embarked on an upgrade programme of all their domestic football training and stadia facilities to keep them competitive at the top end of world football as an aging national team that made the World Cup final in 2018 and semi-final in 2022 but failed to reach the knock out rounds at Euro 2024, seeks to regenerate itself.
The co-operation agreement was signed by the president of HNS, Marijan Kustić, and professor Wang Yi, dean of the Chinese National Football Academy at the headquarters of Croatian FA in Zagreb.
“The signing of this agreement is another proof that we pay great attention to the development of young football players and thus we want to improve Croatian football globally. I am glad that our friends from China recognized the Croatian Football Association as an important partner in the context of a qualitative step forward in the work of their national football academy, but I believe that we too will be richer for the experiences that will come from this valuable cooperation,” said Marijan Kustić, president of the Croatian Football Association.
The dean of the Chinese National Football Academy Wang Yi highlighted the Croatian federation as one of the most successful in the world and expressed the hope that the two sides would find the new co-operation mutually beneficial.
“We thank the Croatian Football Association for their exceptional hospitality, it was useful to hear expert presentations on the development of young players under the auspices of the umbrella organization of Croatian football. We are honoured by the fact that we have signed a cooperation agreement with HNS, which is one of the most successful football organizations in recent years in the world, I am confident that we will cooperate to our mutual satisfaction,” Wang Yi.
