Transfer talk: Chelsea turn focus to Osimhen, Ajax ponder Ramsdale deal

August 15 – After failing to agree terms with Samu Omorodion earlier this week which saw a move for the Atletico Madrid striker collapse, Chelsea have returned their focus to Nigeria and Napoli attacker Victor Osimhen. The player has also been strongly linked with PSG, who have since pulled away from negotiations.

Napoli boss Antonio Conte wants Belgium forward Romelu Lukaku, 31, and 21-year-old Italian midfielder Cesare Casadei as part of the Osimhen transfer negotiations.

Liverpool look set to break their transfer deadlock with a move for 23-year-old Valencia and Georgia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. They won’t benefit immediately, though, with the keeper set to join Bournemouth on loan ahead of a €30 million transfer to Liverpool in 2025.

There are still question marks over Liverpool’s pursuit of a defensive midfielder with no concrete links surfacing as the transfer window draws to a close. They haven’t been shy to sell, though, having offloaded young duo Fabio Carvalho and Bobby Clark for a combined €35 million.

Manchester City wantaway Kalvin Phillips is on the verge of completing a loan move to Ipswich Town on a one-year deal. The tractor boys’ move for the 28-year-old will reportedly not include an option to buy.

Ajax are interested in signing Arsenal’s England goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, 26. The Gunners are considering a move for Espanyol’s 23-year-old Spanish goalkeeper Joan Garcia as Ajax ponder a new offer for Ramsdale after having a loan bid rejected earlier this week. Valued at €25 million, a deal for Ramsdale could see him become the Eredivisie’s most expensive goalkeeper in history.

Bournemouth have agreed a club-record deal in the region of €45 million for Porto striker Evanilson. They are also reportedly targeting Arsenal’s 25-year-old English forward Eddie Nketiah as they look to fill the void left by Dominic Solanke’s €65 million move to Tottenham.
