Expanded AFC Champions League Two sees 32 clubs from 24 nations grouped for Sept. KO

August 19 – While focus was on the inaugural draw for the AFC’s rebranded and reformatted Champions League Elite competition, the AFC has also drawn the groups for the expanded Champions League Two.

The 32 teams were drawn into eight groups of four – four groups in each of the east and west regions – with group play set to kick off September 17. The top two teams in each round will qualify for the knockout rounds.

Formerly known as the AFC Cup, AFC Champions League Two has $16.6 million of prize money and an increased cast with clubs from the region’s dominant nations of Japan, South Korea, Iran, Qatar and Saudi Arabia present in the draw.

Clubs from 24 nations are represented in the line-up.
