“This group of players has to be a guide for the younger players who are starting to play in our country,” Argentina coach Christian Meloni told Fifa.com.
“They are small steps but we are achieving results. Now we will enjoy it and we will think about being among the eight best in the world, it would be crazy, but we are always keeping our feet on the ground.”
Elsewhere, North Korea, the Asian champions, impressed with a 2-0 victory against the Netherlands. They will play Austria in the last 16. The North Koreans finished second behind undefeated Japan on six points in Group E. The Japanese take on Nigeria while the United States clash with Mexico in the next round.
