EA Sports launches second year of its FC Pro Open tournament with $1m+ prize money

September 20 – EA Sports has announced the return of the FC Pro Open eSports tournament for its second year, with a $1 million+ prize pool as the company strengthens its claim as the “home of football eSports”.

While precise prize details have not yet been released, the tournament is expected to build on last year’s $1 million pot. The 2024 circuit will feature EA Sports’ latest release, FC25, which launches this month, with tournament action kicking off on October 1 with the FC Pro Open Ladder stage.

Top players from the Ladder stage will move on to the Regional Qualifiers (October 12-13), culminating in the Global Qualifier from November 1-3. The finalists will gather in London for the live event, which will be streamed across Twitch and YouTube to fans worldwide.

Last season’s FC Pro Open attracted over 100,000 live viewers and millions more on social media, as RB Leipzig’s Vejrgang secured the title of the inaugural FC Pro World Champion. EA Sports hopes to exceed those numbers this year.

“FC Pro is back! Our second season will continue to showcase the best FC players in the world while building on the success of last year,” said Sam Turkbas, Senior Director of Esports at EA SPORTS. “This year, we’re offering more opportunities for players to compete at the highest level with new pathways to the FC Pro World Championship. We’re excited to deliver an even more dynamic and competitive experience.”

The EA FC 25 game is now available for early access to Ultimate Edition pre-order customers, with the general release set for September 27 across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
