Romanians partner with data specialists Hudl to boost performance

October 4 – The Romanian Football Federation (FRF) has signed a €1.2 million partnership with the American company Hudl.

The money will be invested in Romanian football over a period of four years, with the aim of supporting all the national teams, Ligue 2 clubs, 24 of the best academies in the country, and all clubs from the Women’s SuperLiga of Romania.

“By partnering with Hudl, an American company founded in 2006, a global leader in video and data analysis in sports with 230,000 teams from more than 40 sports in its portfolio, a common working vision will be introduced within the national teams, which it will also be developed within the academies and clubs participating in the first two leagues in men’s football and in the Women’s Superliga,” said an FRF statement.

“Within the project started by signing the partnership, the Romanian Football Federation aims to train and educate specialists and technical staff members in data collection and analysis and to contribute to the development of the video and data analysis departments of Romanian clubs.”

Each team will benefit from the installation of an automated match camera, fixed or mobile, depending on their stadium infrastructure. In addition, each team will have access to the Hudl platform to use the video analysis program and communicate directly with the players, in addition to match reports and statistics.

“In the FRF’s view, technology represents a transformative element for high sports performance. Thus, integrating technology into football and adapting to the needs of each team can be the key to success. As early as 2023, all national teams are already working in a common concept, and since the summer of last year, clubs from the first league have also joined this project,” said FRF president Răzvan Burleanu.

“This partnership involves the use of a multidimensional tool, very useful for coaches, sports directors, but also for scouts and, with the new options, including for each player who can have access to personalized video content and data.

If in the past matches were recorded on VHS tapes and then the clips were processed and distributed manually, now everything happens in one platform, in real-time, and can be customized according to the tactical approach of each team.”
