October 9 – The European Club Association (ECA) has organised a charity initiative in collaboration with non-profit organisations Eleven Campaign and Desmos, to support recovery projects for Greek communities and sporting facilities affected by this summer’s wildfires.
The in-country activity will include giving local children the opportunity to meet football legends and players.
The ECA has pledged a significant contribution to Desmos, a foundation that supports community-based projects across Greece. Desmos will work in partnership with Eleven Campaign, an international non-profit organisation that will help rebuild football pitches and sports infrastructure damaged by the fires.
ECA Chairman Nasser Al-Khelaïfi said: “The wildfires in Greece have been a tragedy, and our thoughts remain with the communities deeply affected by this climate emergency. The work of the ECA Foundation is becoming increasingly important. We must partner with local experts to provide relief—not just in times of crisis, but through proactive initiatives that create real, positive change. Today’s event is just the beginning, and we are committed to continuing this effort to bring the benefits of football to as many as possible.”
ECA Vice-Chairman Dariusz Mioduski added: “Community is at the heart of the ECA Foundation. Our mission is to leverage football’s power to build connections, promote unity, and offer hope to those in need. By investing in these spaces, we ensure a lasting legacy for these communities.”
The ECA also announced plans to officially launch the ECA Foundation in 2025, reinforcing its commitment to global community development and recovery efforts.
