Premier League attendances hit average 98.5% capacity for match week 9

October 31 – Arsenal, Brentford, Brighton, Leicester City and West Ham all achieved season-best attendances in Match Week nine as the Premier League looked to bounce back from a disappointing fortnight in the stands.

In a week marked by a stellar turnout, four teams made up the 99% club – Brighton, Arsenal, West Ham and Brentford – as the 99% mark seems to become more and more achievable each week.

The stats show that Arsenal continued their streak of excellent attendance, this time for the top-of-the-table bout with Liverpool which ended in a hard-fought draw for both sides.

Fellow contenders Manchester City, meanwhile, witnessed their lowest attendance of the Premier League season for a tense 1-0 victory over Southampton. They were also the lowest scorers in %capacity for MW9, having never placed bottom before this week.

Despite attendance slip ups from Everton and Manchester City, the week scored highly with a 98.47% average attendance across the ten fixtures, up from 97.33% last weekend – a huge 1.14% jump which saw only 6,373 seats left cold across the ten fixtures.

The largest attendance of the week was at the London Stadium for West Ham versus Manchester United, which saw 62,474 seats taken for Erik Ten Hag’s last match in charge of the Red Devils. The score ended 2-1 thanks to a late (and controversial) penalty to the home team dispatched by captain Jarrod Bowen.
