November 1 – Turkey’s Bursaspor have signed a stadium naming rights deal with Matlı Holding worth 40 million Turkish liras (€1 million). The one and a half year deal will see the name of Bursaspor’s stadium is changed to Atatürk Sports Complex Matlı Stadium.
Following financial problems, Bursaspor have been relegated to the fourth level of football in Turkey, however their stadium is one of the most modern in the country with a capacity of 43,000.
Bursaspor is one of the most supported teams in Turkey, and in September 2024, a record was set for attendance at a home match against Tokat Belediye which was watched by 41,300 spectators at Atatürk Stadium.
Bursaspor president Enes Çelik and Matlı Holding Chairman of the Board Özer Matlı attended the signing ceremony held at Özlüce İbrahim Yazıcı Facilities. Matli is one of Turkey’s leading animal feed and food suppliers.
Çelik said that they had begun to understand the reward of the unity and solidarity formed in the city and that the sponsorship was a new step to the step taken to return Bursaspor to its former glory.
“We are happy to sign a very important agreement. It has been agreed that our stadium will be named Atatürk Sports Complex Matlı Stadium for 40 million liras for 1.5 years as of today. History will never forget the people, institutions and organizations that supported Bursaspor in the Super League march, where we started writing a new story. However, on the day this march reaches its goal, those who refrained from supporting us will be remembered by us,” said Bursaspor president Enes Çelik.
Özer Matlı said that they will continue to support Bursaspor to reach the best places and that they will announce more news soon.
With the signatures signed the name of the Centennial Atatürk Stadium was changed to Atatürk Sports Complex Matlı Stadium.
