October 15 – A joint delegation of 40 experts will tomorrow begin a seven-day inspection tour of the Russia 2018 World Cup stadiums. Made up of FIFA, Russia 2018 Local Organising Committee (LOC) and Arena-2018 representatives, the party will visit five stadiums and take a virtual tour of the remaining eight.
“Running the first joint inspection of the 2018 FIFA World Cup stadiums is a crucial milestone marking the transition from the design phase to operational stage of preparations for the tournament,” said Alexey Sorokin, CEO of the Russia 2018 LOC.
“The primary goal for inspection at this stage is to receive first-hand information on how design and construction is going for the 2018 FIFA World Cup stadiums. That will enable the FIFA, LOC and Arena-2018 experts to report back to representatives of the host cities with their own comments on how to optimize the work going on so as to meet all FIFA requirements.”
The first official inspection to be made in Russia, the inspectors start in St. Petersburg, before heading to Kazan, Sochi and Moscow – where both the new Spartak and Luzhniki stadiums will be visited.
The specialists cover areas of designing and building stadiums, preparing and operating competitions, security, transport, logistics, hospitality services, broadcasting, media operations, medical control, staff performance, and marketing and ticketing programs.
Inspection schedule:
October 16: St. Petersburg
October 17: Kazan
October 18: Sochi
October 19: Moscow, Spartak Stadium
October 20: Moscow, Luzhniki Stadium
October 21–23: virtual inspection of the remaining 2018 FWC stadiums
