Salah says he is still waiting for Liverpool contract offer

November 26 – Liverpool icon Mohamed Salah has stunned fans by raising doubts about his future at the club, saying he is yet to be offered an extension to his contract which expires at the end of the season.

Salah spoke out after scoring two goals in Liverpool’s 3-2 win over Southampton on Sunday and suggested he is more likely to leave than stay with the Premier League leaders.

“Well, we are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay at the club. I’m probably more out than in,” Salah, who has scored 10 Premier League goals and made six assists this season, commented. “I love the fans and the fans love me but it’s not in my hands. Let’s wait and see.”

Salah joined Liverpool in 2017 and has become a cult hero at Anfield where he has scored 165 goals in 262 Premier League appearances.

The way he has begun this season suggests the 32-year-old is still very much at the peak of his powers.

“I’m very professional. Everybody can see my work ethic. I’m just trying to enjoy my football and I will play at the top level as long as possible,” Salah said.

“I’m just doing my best because this is who I am and I try to give it all for myself and for the club.”

The Egyptian striker has been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia to join the exodus of players taking advantage of the massive salaries offered by the oil-rich nation.

“I’m not going to retire soon so I’m just playing, focusing on the season and I’m trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I’m disappointed but we will see what happens next,” he said.
