January 17 – The AFC will hold the draw next Thursday for the group stage of the U17 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2025, to be played April 3-20.
The draw will see the 15 qualifiers from the 42 nations that competed in the first rounds, put into the pot with hosts Saudi Arabia.
This is the 20th edition of the U17 Asian Cup which is currently held by Japan. Nine former champions are in the draw and 12 nations who competed in the 2023 finals.
The top eight finishers will win slots at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 – the first edition of the newly expanded 48-team strong annual tournament.
Nations in the Saudi Arabia 2025 draw have been seeded into four pots derived from the ranking from the previous three editions (2016, 2018, 2023).

Pot 1: Saudi Arabia, Japan, Korea Republic, Islamic Republic of Iran
Pot 2: Australia, Yemen, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan
Pot 3: Thailand, Vietnam, Oman, Afghanistan
