Wanted: volunteers ‘to bring FIFA World Cup 2025 to life’

January 24 – To successfully run an international tournament containing 32 teams from varying continents, an army of volunteers is an ‘absolute must’ for any organising committee. With the FIFA World Club Cup just a few months away from kick-off, the world’s governing body has been silent until now.

FIFA has announced it is inviting U.S. Soccer Members to apply to be volunteers for this year’s Club World Cup.

The messaging is simple…

“Behind every fan experience, every cheer in the stands, and every game played is another dedicated team: our volunteers.

“From warm smiles to helping hands, they will bring the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 to life, shaping history in this new, ground-breaking 32-team tournament. Volunteers are the heartbeat of football, uniting people and passions on the world’s biggest stage.

One team. One global community. Together, we’re going to make it happen.”

Interested parties can apply at fifa.com and if they fulfil the following criteria, they can be considered for a variety of different roles.

Applicants need to be at least 18 years old, speak English, be a US citizen or lawful permanent resident, participate in training, and agree to and pass a name check and criminal history review. They’ll also need to commit to at least 8 shifts between June 14 – July 13.

Applicants will know if they’ve been successful in April, giving FIFA a few months to train the lucky few in roles such as Access Management, Accreditation, Ceremonies, Competition Management, and Fan Operations to name just a few (there are 17 distinct roles/departments).

With an event of this size and magnitude, FIFA will need 1000’s of able and willing volunteers to pull this venture off, and with ticket prices reaching stratospheric levels, volunteering could be an economical way of participating in the first-time event.
