February 4 – The Romanian Football Federation (FRF) has announced the launch of a new series dedicated to the participation of the Romanian national team at EURO 2024 in Germany. The three-part documentary, called “Generation of Soul”, will be available in March 2025 on a streaming platform.
The director is Remus Achim, who also made the first film dedicated to the Romanian national team, entitled “In the Heart of the National Team: From the Locker Room to Germany”. With 20 years of experience in video production and digital content, Achim worked for 15 years at PRO TV, being involved in projects such as “Pro TV News”, “Romania, I Love You” and “After 20 Years”. A graduate of the New York Film Academy, he continues to explore the stories behind the scenes of the national team.
“The Generation of Soul” brings to the fore the Tricolors, who managed to unite an entire country through their performances and attitude. The documentary promises unprecedented images from the training camp, moments of tension and joy, but also exclusive interviews with the players, technical staff and journalists who were present with them at EURO 2024 and in the Nations League. Former head coach Edward Iordănescu and current head coach Mircea Lucescu complete the list of personalities who talk about the journey of this generation of players.
Achim said about this new production: “It is a pleasure to discover new stories with Tricolors and bring them to the audience. These guys deserve all the respect for everything they have achieved in life. They are people with dreams, with sacrifices and with an immense desire to bring joy to Romanians. We want to show the human side of the national team, to see what motivates them and what connects them to their supporters – and to offer the audience, especially the young ones, some role models to follow.”
FRF president Răzvan Burleanu emphasised the importance of this initiative, saying: “We want to further strengthen the relationship between supporters and the national team. EURO 2024 was an example of civilisation and unity. I don’t think there is anything that has brought more benefits to the country. The ‘Generation of Soul’ will offer an authentic perspective on these players who managed to reignite the passion for Romanian football.”
