UEFA revamps free streaming platform in time for men’s club competition knockouts

February 13 – UEFA has unveiled the next-generation version of UEFA.tv, its free streaming platform, introducing a revamped interface, new features and a broader content library aimed at enhancing the fan experience.

The update comes as the knockout stages of UEFA’s men’s club competitions get underway, with the platform now offering extended match highlights, match previews, pre- and post-match press conferences, and exclusive behind-the-scenes content. Fans will also have access to the new ‘Matchday Moments’ feature, providing real-time standings and tactical analysis.

One of the standout upgrades is a more interactive experience for UEFA’s youth, women’s and futsal competitions. The improved video player now includes an interactive data timeline, allowing users to jump to key match events, such as goals, penalties and substitutions. In addition, UEFA.tv has introduced a ‘download-to-go’ functionality, enabling fans to watch long-form content offline for the first time.

The platform’s Originals section has also been expanded, showcasing UEFA’s growing catalogue of documentaries and series, including ‘My Game, Equals, Outraged,’ and ‘Man in the Middle’. These additions reflect UEFA’s push to engage fans beyond match footage, offering deeper insights into the game’s culture and personalities.

While UEFA.tv remains a complementary service rather than a direct competitor to premium broadcasters, the upgrades position it as a key destination for football content outside traditional live broadcasts.

UEFA has not confirmed whether it plans to introduce more live matches in the future, but the enhancements suggest an effort to build a more self-sustaining digital platform.

The relaunch also raises questions about the long-term strategy for UEFA.tv – whether it remains a free resource or gradually moves towards a more comprehensive streaming model. For now, though, fans have more ways than ever to stay connected to European football.

Guy-Laurent Epstein, UEFA’s marketing director, said: “We are excited to unveil the reimagined UEFA.tv, now offering a vastly expanded content offering and state-of-the-art features that transform the way fans experience football and UEFA competitions.

“This relaunch represents a significant step forward in our dedication to innovation and our mission to deliver high-quality, personalised and seamless streaming to football enthusiasts worldwide.”
