February 26 – Canada, Mexico, Panama and the USA have all announced 60-player preliminary rosters for the Nations League Finals to be played March 20 and March 23 – both match days to be played as double headers at the SoFi Stadium in Hollywood Park, Los Angeles. Final 23-player rosters will be announced March 10.
The preliminary rosters were released ahead of a media day to be held today (Feb 26) at the SoFi Stadium.
Head coaches Jesse Marsch (Canada), Javier Aguirre (Mexico), and Thomas Christiansen (Panama), will be present but USA coach Mauricio Pochettino will not. Instead U.S. Soccer Federation Vice President of Sporting Oguchi Onyewu will stand in.
The US has won all three of the Nations League finals to date, beating Mexico twice and Canada once.
Pochettino’s final selection for the 2025 finals is important with the number of competitive fixtures and opportunities to get his European-based players together becoming limited as the 2026 World Cup fast approaches.
The preliminary US roster includes old warhorses Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie as well as Gio Reyna, Joe Scally, Johnny Cardoso, Yunus Musah, and Brenden Aaronson among the expected names.
Striker Josh Sargent is also included and will be looking to make his mark with Haji Wright, Folarin Balogun, and Ricardo Pepi all out with injuries or still in recovery. Sergino Dest and Malik Tillman are also out injured.
Two young players, Damion Downs and Noahkai Banks, are included. They both play in Germany but neither have made a senior US team debut yet.
Mexico will be looking to upset the US winning streak and will be led by Chucky Lozano, now playing in the MLS with new franchise San Diego FC, and Raul Jimenez.
Canada have a full complement of their major biggest stars including Alphonso Davies who has been frequently sidelined by injury, and goal machine Jonathan David.
Panama will be driven by their midfield engine room of Anibal Godoy, Adelberto Carrasquilla.
The United States will play Panama in the opening match of the semi-finals, followed by Canada against Mexico in the day’s second match.
