December 17 – FC Copenhagen has extended its sponsorship contract with Denmark’s leading brewer Carlsberg. The new contract will see the company remain the football side’s sponsor until 2021.
With the latest deal, Carlsberg is set to sponsor the side for a total of 22 years, which will make it the longest serving club sponsor in the Superligae, the top tier of the country’s professional football league, FC Copenhagen said in a statement.
“We are very pleased with our cooperation with Carlsberg,” said Anders Horsholt, the club’s chief executive. “We share an extensive common history, and the logo of Carlsberg has become an integral element of FC Copenhagen’s shirt, next to the club’s logo.”
The amount of the latest deal was not disclosed by the Copenhagen-based club.
Carlsberg became the side’s sponsor in 1992, and since 1999, the brewer has been serving as the main sponsor of FC Copenhagen. The ongoing collaboration is praised by senior company representatives.
“Football is part of Carlsberg’s DNA,” said Carsten Hanel, the chief executive of Carlsberg Denmark. “Just like Carlsberg, FC Copenhagen has the ambition to be the flagship of Scandinavian football, and we are expecting to continue and develop our long-lasting cooperation in the upcoming years.”
