Final four qualify for inaugural AFC Women’s Champions League centralised semis and final

March 28 – The inaugural AFC Women’s Champions League has reached the semi-final stage with four teams from four countries set to compete at yet to be named centralised venue on May 21-24.

Australia’s Melbourne City FC and China’s Wuhan Jiangda Women’s FC were the last clubs to book their semi-final slots.

The winners of the AFC Champions League will the region’s representative at the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup in early 2026.

Australia’s Melbourne City comfortably overcame Chinese Taipei’s Taichung Blue Whale Women’s Football Team 3-0 at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium.

Melbourne will now meet South Korea’s Hyundai Steel Red Angels Women’s FC who edged Iran’s BAM Khatoon FC 1-0 with Kim Myeong-jin coming off the bench to score the winner in the 81st minute.

China’s Wuhan Jiangda marked the country’s continued journey back to the top of AFC competition but needed penalties to defeat Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies, winning the shootout 6-5 after the match ended 0-0 after 120.

Wuhan Jiangda will meet Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City Women’s FC, who came back from 3-0 and 4-2 down to beat UAE’s Abu Dhabi Country Club 5-4.

The winners of the final will be the AFC’s representatives at the inaugural FIFA Women’s Champions Cup in early 2026.
