April 10 – Former Liverpool manager, and current head of global soccer at Red Bull, Jürgen Klopp is set to return to Anfield for the first time since his departure from the club on May 23 as an honorary ambassador for the LFC Foundation.
Klopp helped Liverpool lift the Premier League title for the first time in 30 years during the 2019-20 season, while also winning the UEFA Champions League (2018-19), the FA Cup (2021-22), League Cup (2021-22, 2023-24) and the FIFA Club World Cup (2019) during his nine-year tenure on Merseyside.
The German coach sensationally resigned at the end of the 2023-24, replaced by Arne Slot who looks set to win the Premier League title this season. The timing of the black-tie Gala couldn’t be better as the Reds should be crowned champions, barring any disasters, at home to Crystal Palace on May 25.
Klopp said, “Everyone knows how much I love the work of the LFC Foundation, and I can’t wait to join them to celebrate that work and help to raise important funds for them to continue the incredible things they are doing.”
The Gala aims to raise funds to help support the foundation, which helped over 127,000 people last season.
Matt Parish, chief executive of LFC Foundation, said: “We are looking forward to this year’s Gala Ball and we are delighted that Jürgen will be joining us to support the event.
“Jürgen was a fantastic advocate for our work during his time at the club and we appreciate his ongoing support and hope as many people as possible can join us on what is sure to be a memorable night and an opportunity to raise funds to allow us to continue to grow and support even more people in our communities as well as supporting Forever Reds.”
