April 10 – Canada’s Northern Super League (NSL) has announced a major new partnership with BMO, naming the bank as the Official Bank of the league and the Presenting Partner of all league broadcasts.
The move comes just days after the league unveiled a landmark international broadcast deal with ESPN, capping off a transformative week for Canada’s first professional women’s soccer competition.
As part of the agreement with BMO, the bank will play a central role in bringing the NSL to fans across Canada. BMO’s investment guarantees high-quality, nationally available coverage of all 75 regular season and playoff matches across TSN, RDS, and CBC/Radio-Canada.
BMO will also receive prominent branding across broadcasts and in-stadium during key events like the NSL Playoffs and Final, alongside community activations aimed at growing the fanbase and deepening local engagement.
This domestic partnership complements the NSL’s new international media presence through ESPN, announced earlier this week. The multi-year deal with ESPN+ will see more than 40 NSL matches streamed annually in the United States, including select playoff games and the league final. Coverage begins with the league’s opening match between Vancouver Rise FC and Calgary Wild FC on April 16, live from BC Place at 7pm PT / 10pm ET.
The agreement with ESPN significantly expands the NSL’s international visibility and positions the league within the growing global ecosystem of women’s football. It gives American and global audiences a front-row seat to a historic new chapter in Canadian sport.
Founded by former Canadian international and Olympic bronze medallist Diana Matheson, the NSL features six clubs from key Canadian markets: Halifax Tides FC, Montreal Roses FC, Ottawa Rapid FC, AFC Toronto, Calgary Wild FC, and Vancouver Rise FC. The league aims to provide a sustainable domestic pathway for elite women’s footballers and strengthen Canada’s legacy in the sport.
Together, the BMO and ESPN partnerships signal a strong start for the NSL as it prepares to kick off its inaugural season and build long-term momentum on and off the pitch.
“BMO is proud to support the Northern Super League, deepening our long-standing commitment to growing the game of soccer across North America,” said Catherine Roche, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, BMO. “This partnership reflects our belief in the power of sport to build stronger communities across Canada and we are excited to be part of the league’s growth, inspiring future generations of athletes and fans from coast to coast to coast.”
“It is wonderful to welcome BMO as the Official Bank of the Northern Super League,” said Christina Litz, President of NSL. “BMO’s commitment to soccer and women’s sports is a perfect complement to the Northern Super League. This league investment from BMO ensures that fans across the country can experience the passion and high level of play while helping to drive visibility and growth for professional women’s soccer in Canada.”
