April 23 – Eintracht Frankfurt have taken a step into the African football talent market with a strategic partnership with Ghanaian side Accra Lions FC, beginning in June 2025.
The agreement will allow the Bundesliga club to expand its international footprint while tapping into one of the most dynamic talent pipelines in West Africa. Accra Lions – one of Ghana’s youngest top-flight teams with an average squad age under 20 – finished second in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League and have quickly gained a reputation for elite youth development since their founding in 2015.
Under the partnership, Frankfurt will gain access to scouting and player development opportunities, with plans to enhance infrastructure, share technical expertise, and provide pathways for Ghanaian players to reach the European stage.
Accra Lions’ rise has been driven by a forward-thinking model and the construction of a modern training centre. Frankfurt hopes to support that vision and gain a competitive edge in the discovery of next-generation African talent.
“This partnership is an important step for our club,” said Oliver König, chairman of Accra Lions FC. “We are proud to have Eintracht Frankfurt, a renowned Bundesliga club, at our side. Our players and coaches can benefit enormously from this collaboration – both on a sporting and personal level. We see this as a great opportunity for cultural exchange between two football-loving countries, which can go far beyond football-specific topics.”
