March 12 – Swiss club FC Sion has inked a sponsorship deal with local drinks maker and distributor Alloboissons. The company will serve as the main sponsor of the side for three-and-a-half years.
The move comes at a time when the Swiss club is struggling to avoid relegation to the second tier, currently position eighth of the 10 teams competing in the top tier Raiffeissen Super League.
Under the latest deal, Alloboissons’s logo will be featured on the squad’s shirts, FC Sion said “FC Sion is happy to receive the valuable support of a company … which relates to its values and tradition, and, at the same time, ambition.”
The amount of the contract was not disclosed by the parties.
Based in Sion, in the country’s south-western part, FC Sion plays its home matches at the 14,283-capacity Stade Tourbillon.
To overhaul the club’s stadium, the municipality of Sion has earmarked some CHF 13 million (€12.2 million) to upgrade the facility by 2020, according to FC Sion. Italian sports apparel maker Errea is the club’s kit supplier.
