April 21 – CSKA Sofia Ultras have taken extreme measures after the team suffered loss. Yesterday CSKA lost to Lokomotiv Sofia and after the game the fans summoned the players to one of the stands of Bulgarska armia stadium.
After a few minutes of conversation between the fans and the players, furious ultras started to strip the shirts of their players chanting: “You do not deserve to wear that shirt.”
Two of the most experienced players, Apostol Popov and Plamen Krachunov, tried to talk to the fans, but ultimately they removed their shirts too.
The fans demanded an explanation from Portuguese winger Toni Silva, who was insulted and called “monkey”. He lost his temper and showed his middle finger to the fans.
Police officers at the stadium intervened to prevent more serious incidents between the fans and the players but some of the Ultras waited the players outside the stadium, where continued to offend them.
CSKA have failed to score a goal in seven consecutive games, a club record.
Last year, Levski Ultras stripped the team’s new head coach Ivaylo Petev at press conference. Petev subsequently resigned and is now coach of the Bulgarian national team.
