April 21 – Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have agreed a new media partnership with MSN for the broadcasting and publication of the club’s content in the USA.
As part of the syndication deal, Bayern-related news, stories and features will be distributed to a US audience via a number of media platforms.
Bayern honorary president Franz Beckenbauer was in New York to attend a press conference announcing the partnership. “It’s great to be back in the US,” said Beckenbauer, who will contribute a regular column on fcbayernmunich.com.
“The quality and interest in soccer here is at the highest level it has ever been. I’m excited to provide my perspective on the most talked about topics on the sport and club level for FC Bayern in the US.”
Bayern is the first club to have a direct presence on MSN’s US platforms.
Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, head of the European Club Association, commented: “The media partnership with MSN is another important step for our internationalization strategy. Millions of people will receive exclusive FC Bayern content via MSN. Together, we are bringing our US fans closer to our club, our brand, and our philosophy.”
A year ago, Bayern opened its first overseas office in New York to engage with millions of US-based fans and from next season, the Bundesliga will be broadcast by Fox Sports in the US after a five-year deal was struck in 2013.
