May 21 – CSKA Sofia’s Portuguese winger Toni Silva has again been the victim of racially motivated vandalism. His car was marked with a nail as vandals scratched a swastika on it. Silva published a photo of his car on his Twitter account and wrote “Oh and again and again”.
It is not yet clear whether the act of vandalism was done by CSKA fans.
This is the second time Silva’s car has been vandalised. A month ago CSKA fans slashed the tires of his car in front of the Bulgarska armia stadium, after they had a confrontation with the player.
In April, CSKA Ultras goaded Portuguese winger Toni Silva, who was insulted and called a “monkey”. He lost his temper and showed his middle finger to the fans.
A day later, Silva used the club’s website to announce that he was not angry at the supporters and did not consider their insults as a racist – though it is unclear whether he was made to put this statement out.
Silva was suspended for the last two games of the season as he was sent off in the game against Botev Plovdiv in which, ironically, he scored the first goal for CSKA in 2015. CSKA failed to score a goal in ten games in a row, dating back to December last year.
