June 17 – Radoslaw Osuch, the owner of Zawisza Bydgoszcz, has announced plans to sell the club following its relegation from Poland’s top tier, the Ekstraklasa, and the decision by the municipal authorities of Bydgoszcz to reduce their support to the troubled side.

Zawisza was one of the two Ekstraklasa clubs to be relegated to the second tier for the 2015/2016 season, alongside GKS Belchatow. According to Zawisza’s owner, with the club’s revenues set to be further reduced this season, the support provided by the city of Bydgoszcz, totalling PLN 2.5 million (€600,000) will not be enough for the side to aim at returning to the top tier in a year’s time.

“These funds are to small for us to make our way back to the Ekstrakasa. This is why I will start to look for a new investor. And if the city wants to, it can buy the shares from me,” Osuch told local news site Sport.pl.

Zawisza’s owner was reportedly aiming to secure at least PLN 3.75 million (€900,000) from the municipal authorities this year. However, he obtained less he was given four years ago when he acquired a 95% stake in the club from the municipality.
