July 6 – Nissan, the Japanese carmaker, has signed up as official sponsor of the Swiss Football League, in a deal that will give the brand visibility at all live TV games this season.
Along with existing partners Allianz Suisse, Sporttip and Swisscom, Nissan will now be entitled to an advertising presence in the two top Swiss leagues – the Raiffeisen Super League and the Brack.ch Challenge League – starting on July 18 when FC Luzern take on FC Sion in the first match of the season.
Cédric Diserens, Nissan Switzerland’s managing director, said that “as a proud partner of the UEFA Champions League, we are pleased to now also become a mobility partner of football in our home market”.
Claudius Schäfer, the Swiss Football League’s chief executive, said the league was “delighted to have another strong brand in Swiss football”. He added that the partnership would “further strengthen” the two top tiers. “I am confident that our platform will help Nissan to achieve its communication and business goals.”
Lukas Troxler, director marketing & business development at InfrontRingier Sports & Entertainment Switzerland, which brokered the deal, said that the league, which operates a central marketing concept, offered Nissan “high-quality branding”.
The latest announcement comes less than two months after Nissan was unveiled as an official partner of the Russian club Zenit St Petersburg under a three-year deal.
