Spurs renew ticket resale deal with StubHub

July 10 – English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur has renewed its exclusive ticket resale partnership for a further two seasons with StubHub. With the club in the early stages of building a new 61,000 capacity stadium and a deal announced to stage NFL matches, StubHub will be looking to position itself for Spurs’ new era of larger crowds and more stadium events.

The current deal with StubHub began in 2012 and under the extension will end with the 2016-17 season. StubHub claims it is the world’s largest ticket marketplace.

StubHub’s platform is a ticket resale marketplace and has proved valuable for season ticket holders who have been able to sell match tickets they are unable to use to other Spurs fans. Fans can list season tickets once the club has sold all its general admission tickets.

Fans do not pay to list their tickets on the market and all sales are backed by StubHub’s FanProtect Guarantee which assures fans that they will get the tickets they paid for in time for the game or receive replacements of equal or greater value, or a full refund.

The club also uses US-based firm’s platform for hospitality tickets where official matchday packages are available at the standard price. StubHub

As part of the deal StubHub has committed to support the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation which aims to create “life changing opportunities for people within the Club’s local community”. A new StubHub backed project is to be launched in the coming season, details to be revealed.

Fran Jones, Head of Partnerships, Tottenham Hotspur, said: “We have supported the growth of StubHub’s business and brand in what was a new market for them, and now they are firmly established in the UK as a leading ticket marketplace. We are delighted to extend our agreement for a further two seasons.”

Jones says that the StubHub has developed into a useful tool for Spurs fans. Nick Harford, Head of Business Development & Partnerships, StubHub International, reiterated this, saying: “Nearly a fifth of season ticket holders have listed and sold their ticket at least once per season via the platform, which in turn means there is an increased level of ticket supply available to fans.

“Providing a further channel for the Club’s hospitality packages, as well as making a significant investment in a new community programme via the Club’s Foundation, are exciting developments for us as part of our extended partnership.”
