August 26 – Premier League Liverpool have renewed tyre manufacturer Maxxis for a further two year sponsorship, the second time it has extended its partnership with the club.
The deal will give Maxxis match day LED placement and digital advertising in return for its ongoing support of the club, though figure was announced for the deal.
Maxxis is a tyre manufacturer which distributes to more than 150 countries. Liverpool’s international fan base was a key consideration in the renewal.
Derek McMartin, managing director, Maxxis International (pictured left with Liverpool CEO Ian Ayre), said: “Our partnership with Liverpool has been in place since 2009 and been very beneficial for both parties. Asia is now a highly important market for English football clubs, and Europe is a rapidly expanding market for us – so there’s a lot of synergy there.
“Add to that the fact the club has over 4.5 million followers on Twitter and 26 million on Facebook, and it becomes very clear that our two brands combine for the perfect collaboration.”
Billy Hogan, chief commercial officer, Liverpool FC, said: “Our partnerships are really about working together effectively and towards mutual goals – we’re now entering our third term with Maxxis and they’re a great example of the long term relationships we like to develop.
“I am delighted by the renewal and we look forward to working with Maxxis over the next two seasons.”
