September 1 – More than 60 Ultras, supporters of Bulgaria’s Lokomotiv Plovdiv, laid seige to the police station in Montana this weekend, trying to free one of their fellow fans. The fan had been arrested during the game in the Bulgarian elite league between Montana and Lokomotiv after Plovdiv Ultras tried to invade the pitch.
Many of the traveling Lokomotive fans had failed to arrive on time for the match kick off and entered the stands amid scenes of tension between the Ultras and the police.
Immediately after the game Lokomotiv Ultras marched on the police station in the town and stayed there until midnight on Sunday.
All available police and gendarmerie in Montana were mobilised with reinforcements for the local police being drafted in from the neighboring town of Vratsa.
Lokomotiv supporters pelted officers with stones and bottles but there were no reported injuries. The fans were unable to enter the building. The arrested fan was released on Monday.
