September 15 – PlayStation4 (PS4) videogamers have three new app-based prediction games to play based on the UEFA Champions League. Available for free, the official PlayStation F.C. UEFA Champions League app can be downloaded from the PlayStation®Store.
Sony is a sponsor of the Champions League and the prediction games are a departure from PlayStation’s traditional console-based action games and are based on a player’s football knowledge rather than speed over the controller buttons.
The app will have three games with two being available to play now.
Fantasy Football is more like a traditional fantasy game where players pick their Champions League dream team who score points via their performances. Players can make transfers and team substitutions.
Predictor is a straightforward prediction of the result of an upcoming match.
Soon to be available in the app will be Top Five, where the gamer selects who will be the star players in the next match.
PlayStation F.C. players score points via their selections and are then ranked weekly on the PlayStation F.C. leaderboard and assigned an overall ‘UEFA Champions League Fan Level’, which can be improved as the season progresses.
In some countries, where national gaming laws allow, the players compete for weekly and seasonal PlayStation prizes, as well as a grand prize after the Quarter-Final stage. The top players can win tickets to the Champions League Final Milan 2016.
There is also an in-app player that allows PlayStation Plus subscribers to watch classic UEFA Champions League matches – five and 20-minute highlight packages are available from the archive.
The app is available in seven languages: English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
