September 15 – The international break has not dampened the enthusiasm for fans attending Premier League matches with clubs reporting an average 95.24% capacity at the 10 home games in round 5.
Four clubs reported over stadiums full to 99% capacity – Arsenal, Man Utd, Norwich and West Ham – while only one club, Sunderland, dipped under 90% capacity.
West Ham again top the list in terms of efficient with 99.69% of the Boleyn Ground full and just 109 seats unfilled. Man Utd, on more than twice the capacity, come second in terms of percentage full, with just 384 seats left empty.
In total there were just 17,571 seats unfilled out of a total 384,642.
Sunderland accounted for 8,697 of the empty seats, though they did improve their attendance on their previous home game by more than 1,000 spectators.
Despite losing there were positive signs for the Sunderland faithful as manager Gus Hiddink starts to better organise his team. The now almost traditional sight of Sunderland fans streaming out of the Stadium of light before the end of matches might be coming to an end
The Insideworldfootball stats are taken from the club’s reported attendance figure. They do not take account of tickets that might have been sold but the ticket holder did not turn up. Also, for some games stadiums will have slightly reduced capacities due to media and safety requirements.
