Mourinho calls fine a ‘disgrace’ as he complains of witchhunt

Mourinho despair

October 16 – Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has branded his Football Association fine a “disgrace” – landing himself in danger of a further sanction.

Mourinho was hit with a £50,000 fine for claiming officials were “afraid” to award his struggling Premier League champions penalties following a 3-1 home loss to Southampton. He also received a suspended one-match stadium ban.

“I think that £50,000 in the world where we live today is an absolute disgrace. An absolute disgrace,” he said. “”And I also think that the possibility of getting a stadium ban is also something absolutely astonishing.

“More difficult for me to understand is when I compare different people with similar behaviour and similar words.”

Later, in an interview with the BBC, to be shown in full tomorrow, Mourinho reiterated his stance. “It’s not my relationship with the FA, it’s their relationship towards me.

“You should analyse what’s happening with me, compare it with other managers.”

He added sarcastically: “I can’t say anything because the next time I speak, seriously a stadium ban, then after an electronic tag.”
