November 24 – The International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS) has further boosted its international law enforcement credentials with the addition of Canadian Dale Sheehan (pictured) as Director of Capacity Building and Education.
Sheehan is a leading anti-corruption expert and was formerly Assistant Commissioner with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), having spent 30 years with the organisation.
He also spent seven years with Interpol, where he led Interpol’s operational training and development requirements for its 190 member countries. In 2014 he oversaw the move of Interpol’s Police Training and Development from France to Singapore.
In football Sheehan guided the development and implementation of Interpol’s prevention, education and training partnership with FIFA to combat match-fixing, as well as implementing a similar programme with the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Helmut Spahn, Director General of the ICSS, said: “As the ICSS continues to grow and expand, the appointment of someone of the experience, stature and quality of Dale Sheehan is a crucial addition to the team.
“With his extensive knowledge and understanding of anti-corruption techniques, Dale will add further international expertise to the ICSS and his appointment will serve as a reminder of our ongoing commitment to safeguarding sport and developing a global, cross-sector approach to sport safety, security and integrity.”
