January 29 – With Europe’s giant clubs generally focusing on expansion opportunities in developing football markets like Asia and the US, Premier League Liverpool has turned their attention closer to home with the launch of club websites and online stores in French and Spanish.
The club said that sites will “interact with its millions of passionate French and Spanish speaking supporters around the world.”
The websites at francais.liverpoolfc.com and espanol.liverpoolfc.com will carry exclusive behind-the-scenes video content. The sites also integrate Liverpool’s localised social media feeds allowing fans to engage across all platforms.
Matthew Baxter, chief media officer, at Liverpool said: “With over 470 million French and Spanish speakers globally, and the rapid growth of our fan base in French and Spanish speaking regions, it is really important for us to talk with those fans and bring them even closer to the Club. The French and Spanish websites enable us to engage with a huge number of our fans more easily in their own language anywhere, at any time, on any device.”
The language sites will also offer the opportunity for Liverpool’s sponsor partners to communicate to fans in their own language.
Via the online store fans will be able to shop in four different currencies including sterling, US Dollars, Australian Dollars and Euros.
