Kroenke stays home on the (new £500m) range as Gooners cry out for players

February 11 – Arsenal fans, who benefit from one of the most state-of-the-art stadiums in the UK, have long bemoaned the club’s lack of spending in the transfer market.

So imagine their frustration at reports that their largest shareholder, American entrepreneur Stan Kroenke, has splashed out on a Texas ranch, his 11th, the asking price of which was apparently around £500 million.

Kroenke, who is worth about £5 billion, owns more than 865,000 acres of land in the United States according to the BBC – an area three times the size of Los Angeles, making him the ninth biggest land owner in the entire country.

His propensity to splash the cash on properties is in stark contrast with his perceived unwillingness to do the same on Arsenal players, at least in comparison to rival big guns though it needs to be said that the Gunners forked out £42.5 million on Mesut Ozil and £35 million on Alexis Sanchez.

Nevertheless, Arsenal fans have been quick to voice their frustration on social media about Kronke’s latest investment, not least because of a lack of marquee signings in the winter window to boost the club’s bid for the league title.

Equally irritating for the supporters is the fact that Arsenal have the most expensive season tickets in the Premier League.
