February 12 – The long held lead by Arsenal as the Premier League club with the most Twitter followers is likely to end this week with Manchester Untied having closed the gap on their London rivals to just 6,500 followers.
The Man Utd relentless chase of Arsenal has been impressive with the gap now a mere 0.09%, as opposed to a difference in 63,000 (0.93%) only four weeks ago.
What is also noticeable is the drop away from the leadership that Chelsea have had following poor league form and change of managers.
On field performance matters when it comes to increasing followers as West Ham have demonstrated. Over the past four weeks the Hammers have tweeted the most – 2196 tweets – and increased their followers by 139,674 – a massive 24.97%.
Leicester have also increased followers by 54,500 – an increase of 18.88% based predominantly on their remarkable table topping of the Premier League.
