Swansea top out, Chelsea, Norwich, Man City and Arsenal keep on the pace

Swansea fans

February 16 – The 26th round of the Premier League saw five clubs record more than 99% capacity attendances with Swansea packing in 90 people more than their official capacity.

With both Sunderland and Aston Villa at home – the league’s two bottom sides when it comes to attendance stats and league performances this season – this week’s figures were never going to be record breakers.

Of the 20,291 unfilled seats, more than 14,000 were at the Stadium of Light or Villa Park. However, both clubs did record better attendance figures than their previous home games.

Villa took a 6-0 hammering from Liverpool and with fans streaming out the stadium early they will have to work hard to bring them back.

Chelsea, Norwich, Man City and Arsenal have no such problems filling their stadia – there were less than 1,300 unfilled seats in total across their stadia.

Everton, with new US owners apparently at the Goodison Park gates, again had 2,000+ unfilled seats but a 94.7% capacity attendance, suggesting there is still more efficiency they could achieve in filling the ground.

The Insideworldfootball figures are based on reported attendances and do not take account of no-shows or seat kills for safety or media requirements.
