February 6 – Sunil Gulati (pictured) has been unanimously re-elected to a second four-year term as president of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF).
A member of Columbia University’s economics department, Gulati also heads the US bid to host the World Cup in 2018 or 2022.
Gulati also helped put together the successful bid that brought the 1994 World Cup to the US, and he was executive vice president and chief international officer of the US organisers for the tournament.
Gulati succeeded Bob Contiguglia in March 2006.
