March 31 – Manchester City defender Kolo Toure made an unscheduled appearance at the Soccerex conference in Manchester today but refused to discuss the positive drugs test that has kept him out of action.
Toure was suspended after testing positive for a specified substance – understood to be a weightloss substance taken by mistake – and is currently awaiting the results of the B sample.
Toure was mobbed by a posse of cameramen and reporters as he toured the exhibition stand at the Manchester Central convention centre.
Asked if he knew when he would hear the results of the B sample, he replied: “no comment”, before adding: “I will be back soon – I hope so.”
The Ivory Coast international defender has played over 80 times for his country and lost the captaincy of City after the arrival of manager Roberto Mancini.
City are currently fourth in the Premier League chasing a place in the Champions League for the first time.
