May 4 – ECN Management has partnered with Chelsea to market some of its star players, including David Luiz and Fernando Torres, both signed in the last transfer window.
ECN have particular expertise in the Chinese market, and will be looking to help boost the profile of 19 Chelsea players whose image rights are owned by the club through partnering them with local brands.
The company specialises in advising organisations on commercial and business strategy, working with a group of elite athletes who require specific and elaborate brand management.
“Chelsea is delighted to be partnering with ECN Management,” said Ron Gourlay, Chelsea chief executive.
“We want to work with forward thinking and pro active agencies; ECN Management have the local knowledge in China and experience required to give our players profile.
“We hope to work closely to build on our players’ image and reputation in China.”
Frederick Blackford, ECN’s managing director, added: “Football in emerging markets, particularly in China, is the most exciting growth business in sports.
“Chelsea’s players are some of the most prominent ambassadors of the world game, and we are privileged to be involved in taking the Chelsea Brand and business to new frontiers.”
