June 14 – Cities hosting World Cup games in Brazil in 2014 will be the first to enjoy the benefits of 4G wireless technology as super fast mobile internet access comes to the country.

The Brazilian Government has confirmed that cities such as Cuiabá, Curitiba, and São Paulo, all set to host games during the tournament, will be first in line for the technology.

4G networks are up to 10 times faster than the 3G equivalent, and the technology will also benefit the country ahead of its preparations for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Companies will be bidding shortly to implement the technology, which has started to arrive in South America having already reached North America.

Erasmo Rojas of 4G Americas said: “If there is one country that needs LTE sooner than others due to its commitments, it is Brazil.”

Brazil’s economy is one of the fastest growing in the world, and the adoption of this technology will enable it to speed up its development ahead of the hosting of the world’s two biggest sporting events.
