UEFA confirms award of Champions League and Europa League rights in Asia

June 7 – UEFA has confirmed that the award of rights to broadcast Champions League and Europa League games between 2012 and 2015 to various media outlets in Asia.

Astro has claimed the rights in Malaysia and Brunei, with six Champions League games and four Europa League matches to be available to viewers each match week.

Ten Sports has won the rights to broadcast four games per match week on the Indian subcontinent in territories ranging from Pakistan to Bhutan.

In Myanmar, S Media will be showing six matches per match week on pay TV.

All the rights packages include highlights programmes and delayed coverage of some of Europe’s biggest games.

The rights also cover the full spectrum of media platforms, from TV to mobile.

UEFA said: “The media rights sales process is successfully continuing in Asia, reflecting the growing interest for UEFA’s club football competitions in the region.

“UEFA is happy to announce these deals as they will enable football fans throughout the respective territories to enjoy increased levels of match choice and coverage of both the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.”
