Radical overhaul is vital to modernise Scottish FA, says Regan

June 7 – Stewart Regan, the chief executive of the Scottish Football Association (SFA), wants the organisation to vote for groundbreaking changes to the national game today when they hold their Annual General Meeting at Hampden Park in Glasgow.

A 75 per cent majority of the current 11 man Board is necessary to reduce their numbers to seven, which would incorporate an independent board member.

A new judicial panel will be convened and the articles of association rewritten in part of a major overhaul of the way the country’s football is run.

It is part of the Scotland United – A 2020 Vision plan, which focuses on four main pillars: performance, quality growth, greater financial returns and being respected to lead.

“If voted through, this will be the most significant change in the 138-year history of the Scottish FA,” said Regan.

“We’ve travelled thousands of miles in the past few months, up to Lossiemouth and Inverness, and down to Annan, across to Fife and Stirling and all over the place, to make sure all our members are aware of the significance of these changes.

“I think the past season has reaffirmed the need to change and to modernise in line with good business practice and I would hope the majority of the members share this vision.”
