July 22 – Poland has completed construction on the stadium in Gdansk which is set to host games during next year’s European Championships, that are being jointly co-hosted with Ukraine.

The stadium was meant to be completed by July 1, but delays forced a friendly between Poland and France to be moved to Warsaw as construction continued.

It is to be officially opened on August 6, with the first game at the stadium to be against rivals Germany in a friendly a month later.

Delays have caused trouble in both Poland and Ukraine, with problems also being experienced in the construction of the stadium in Warsaw where the opening game of the European Championships will be held.

Polish transport authorities have expressed concern that half of the roads planned for the tournament may not be ready in time for 2012.

UEFA remains confident that both countries will be ready for the tournament next June.
