January 25 – Who are the all-time champions of Europe? Not surprisingly it is the two Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona who lead the ranking, with Real edging ahead but only by five points over the 25 years of Champions League competition.

The unofficial ranking published on UEFA.com is a who’s who of Europe’s leading teams with Bayern Munich holding third and Manchester Untied fourth. There is a long gap between these four teams and fifth placed Arsenal who are just ahead of top-ranked Italian side Juventus.

Olympic Lyonnais are the leading French team in 10th place, though PSG look to be gaining on them rapidly – they are ranked 16th.

Six of the top 10 all-time ranked teams are still in this year’s Champions League competition that resumes with the last 16 round of matches mid-February.
