March 21- Liverpool became the fourth Premier League club to break through the 7 million Twitter follower barrier this week. They put on 27,100 new followers for the week.
Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are already ahead of them in breaking that barrier and they were also ahead on the weekly ranking of new followers with Man Utd putting on 59,000 new followers against second place Arsenal’s 53,500.
Liverpool, who drew with Manchester City at the weekend, are a place ahead of them, in the Twitter table. Man City’s total follower count is 2.9 million behind Liverpool and almost 5.9 million behind Manchester United.
The week saw a resurgence at Leicester City who jumped at sixth in the table ahead of Everton and Spurs. Leicester had an outstanding week with back-to-back Champions League and Premier League wins. Their growth at 0.93% was the second highest for the week.
With a reinvigoration on the pitch has come a louder voice off it. Leicester topped the number of tweets for the week with 300. Chelsea and Crystal Palace were jointsecond most active with 290 tweets each.
Middlesborough had largest percentage growth in new followers at 1.29%, despite being bottom of the tweet table. The follower growth wasn’t reflected in their league result, losing convincingly to the imperious twitter table toppers Man Utd.
