Spurs in Hong Kong to launch new expanded sponsor deal with AIA

May 26 – Premier League Tottenham Hotspur have extended their shirt deal with insurance group AIA until the end of the 2021-22 season. The club announced the extension while on their post-season tour to Hong Kong at AIA Group’s headquarters.

No figure has been announced for the new deal but Spurs were previously estimated to be earning £16 million per season from the AIA sponsorship. With the club having achieved its best finish ever in the Premier League, the new sponsorship will be an increase on the previous deal.

AIA first sponsored Spurs in 2013 as the club’s Cup Shirt Partner before becoming Official Shirt Partner in all competitions the following year. AIA is now upgrading to be recognised as the club’s Global Principal Partner.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy said: “This new long-term agreement demonstrates the strength of our relationship with AIA and underlines just how much we both value this partnership. The renewed partnership comes at a significant time in the Club’s history with a new world-class stadium currently under construction… We look forward to continuing to work closely with AIA in the coming years as we look to further support the objectives of both organisations in the Asia-Pacific region.”

Spurs has been working hard to expand its presence across Asia via its fast growing local language social media channels. The club has supported a number of health and well-being initiatives with AIA across 18 national markets in the region. These have involved club legends and coaches delivering a series of coaching and associated activities focussed on football and healthy living.

In Hong Kong this week the club have undertaken a series of joint activities with AIA this week to celebrate the extended partnership. The week culminates today (Friday) with a match against Kitchee SC in the Hong Kong National Stadium.

Ng Keng Hooi, AIA Group Chief Executive & President Designate, said: “Spurs has an enormous following in Asia, with its fans rewarded by the great progress the team has made on the pitch in recent years… Expanding our partnership with Spurs will enable more frequent and innovative activities for our customers, agents, employees, as well as others in our local communities, to interact with the Spurs players, coaching and support staff on the ground in Asia. We look forward with great anticipation to our shared success on and off the field over the coming years as we continue to help our customers live longer, healthier, better lives.”
