August 17 – Liverpool are on the verge of completing a move for 30-year-old VfB Stuttgart and Japan Captain Wataru Endo in a deal worth €19 million as the club finally make progress in their bid to find a successor to 29-year-old Brazilian Fabinho, who departed for the Saudi Pro League in a move worth €40 million.

August 16 – Not content with having just smashed the British transfer record by buying Moises Caicedo from Brighton for an eye-watering (some might say obscene) £115 million to take their spending under the new American owners to almost £1 billion, Chelsea are poised to add two more names to their star-studded squad.

Brentford owner Benham sells stake in FC Midtjylland

August 16 – After a decade of involvement, Brentford owner Matthew Benham is stepping away from FC Midtjylland in Denmark, selling his majority stake to Danish businessman Anders Holch Povlsen. Benham’s Smartodds however will keep supplying the club with data.

US judge agrees Televisa’s $95m settlement for shareholders in World Cup bribery case

August 11 – Mexican broadcaster Grupo Televisa, whose shares are trade on the New York Stock Exchange, will pay a $95 million settlement to a group of investors who claimed that Televisa’s alleged bribery to obtain broadcast rights to four World Cups cost them millions of dollars in share value.
