January 8 – The last two weeks have seen a huge amount of tweeting by Premier League clubs who, combined, averaged just over 7,000 tweets a week compared to an average of about 4,500 tweets a week, in the four weeks leading up to Christmas.
January 4 – Paris St-Germain partner Ooredoo has announced a recent digital promotion generated more than 13 million Youtube views. The promotion, a fan competition, culminated with the sending of 15 winners to Qatar to meet the players and watch a friendly match between Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain on December 30 at Qatar’s Al Sadd Stadium.

December 18 – It has been a tumultuous week for Chelsea and Leicester City. On the pitch Leicester deepened the Blues at Chelsea with a Premier League victory that put them top of the league and eventually pushed Jose Mourinho out of Stamford Bridge. On twitter Leicester had the biggest percentage increase in followers of any Premier League club this week at 4.25% – Chelsea recorded a 0.45% increase.

December 11 – Manchester United have continued to outperform their Twitter rivals in the Premier League with a massive increase of over 150,000 followers in the last 4 weeks. At the top of the Twitter table they now have Arsenal very much in their sights and could overtake them by mid January at the current rate of increase.

November 26 – French Ligue 1 side Olympique de Marseille have partnered with video messaging application Snapchat in a bid to up their social media presence.
November 17 – Premier League Liverpool have broken the 5 million Twitter follower barrier and are celebrating with a competition for fans to be become the club’s new number 5 for one game only.

October 2 – In what is believed be football’s first social media sacking of a top division manager, Bosnian side Drina Zvornik have fired their manager Vladica Petrovic over Facebook. If that wasn’t bizarre enough, Petrovic was apparently among the first to ‘like’ the post.

September 25 – The weekly Twitter growth table saw a number of changes in ranking this week as Chelsea dropped to fourth behind Liverpool who took third slot. Manchester United continue to dominate weekly growth with one tweet this week being retweeted 14,000 times- that is 1,500 more retweets than Manchester City – in fifth place in the table – gained in new followers.
